Top Ten Social Media Apps
Social media has skyrocketed the past few years and almost every teen is always on their phones or apps that allow them to interact with people all across the world. It has changed the lives, for better or worse, of people all around the world. New things are being discovered through these apps and it’s impacted everyone’s daily life.
1. Twitter
Many teenagers have a Twitter and use it often. “It is a fun, easy way for people to communicate their thoughts to everyone,” sophomore Macie Bokelman said. “I use twitter quite often, definitely in my top ten.”
2. Instagram
Instagram is a great way to share pictures you took of places you went, your friends and yourself and basically anything one desires to post.
3. Vine
Vine is an app that allows anyone to make 6 second videos and share with people. “Vine is one of my favorite things to go on,” sophomore Finn Murphy said “It has hilarious little videos that can entertain me for hours.”
4. Snapchat
Anywhere you go, you can ask anyone around you if they have the snapchat app and whoever it is will most likely say they do. There is 100 million active users each month who use the snapchat app. Snapchat is an easy and quick way to send pictures or videos to your friends, which then disappears.
5. Tumblr
Tumblr is an app that allows people of all ages, mainly teenagers and older, to blog about whatever they desire and have a liking to. Whether it’s cats and horses, to healthy foods and recipes. “I love Tumblr,” freshman Lauren Lillis said. “I can follow several different blogs about one topic, like a cretain band I like or something like a fashion blog”
6Pandora
Pandora is a music app, not so much a social media app but it is incredibly popular with students and even adults. What pandora allows you to do is pick an artist and it makes a station with other songs based off that artist.
7. Pinterest
Pintrest is essentially like a bulletin board, with all different kinds of ideas for home, wedding, holidays, recipies, anything. You can follow other people and look at their boards, and repin something onto one of your boards. “It is a great way to get ideas and DIY ideas from,” junior Brooke Pigneri said.
8. Facebook
Not many teenagers are on facebook anymore, however some still use this app on their phones to stay in contact with family, old friends or anyone else.
9. Spotify
Spotify is a music app that allows anyone to make an account for free or pay for upgrades, and to make their own playlist and listen to it anytime. “I listen to my Spotify playlists all the time,” sophomore Ally Scanlon said. “It’s such a good and convenient app to have to be able to play the music I like whenever.”
10. 8 tracks
8 tracks or ‘infinity sign’ tracks is another music based app. You can pick a tag or two and it gives you a list of playlists to choose from with different songs. You can even make your own and follow people and listen to their playlists. “I use 8 tracks to listen to my music,” sophomore Macie Bokelman said. “There is always a playlist for every mood I am in at the moment.”
