“Letters to Sala” Rehersals Begin

The beginnings of the fall play “Letters to Sala” have officially begun with the kickoff of the first rehearsal. “Letters to Sala” is a play based on a true story about a teenage girl, Sala, who was sent to go to a labor camp from her home in Poland in place of her sister. The play originates from the book Sala’s daughter Ann wrote that was published in 2006. In this production, Sala is being played by senior Amanda Miller, and Young Sala is being played by senior Hannah Tymosko. The play details her communications from her family and friends back home as she lives from a labor camp. The play is a largely female-led cast; out of the 30 cast members, 21 of them are female. The play auditions were Aug. 25. The cast list was posted on Friday, Aug. 29. The first play practice was Sep. 2, and the entire cast was excited to be starting on the play. The first performance of “Letters to Sala”’ will be at 7:30 PM in the PAC on Nov. 13, and performances will continue through November 15. Like “Hamlet” last year, it is hopeful that “Letters to Sala” will be nominated for State or maybe even Nationals.
