The students lined the field while families were situated comfortably on the bleachers. The cameras started flashing before the games even started. Antsy moms and photographers casually snapped a few pictures of warm ups and stretches, excited for kickoff.
Then, the mayhem began.
The freshman team kicked off their first unofficial game of their high school career with noticeable jitters. They all played as hard as they could but the green team got a taste of victory after they trampled over the white team with a score of 14-0.
Afterwards, the JV and Varsity teams combined for a glimpse of what’s to come during this falls Friday night lights. They hustled, tackled, and gave everything they had. The white team got the glory with a win over the black team of 19-7.
Veteran players were beyond thrilled to be back once again on the Southwest gridiron.
“It is great to be back out on the field and playing again,” Sophomore Kevin Woolworth said. “I feel like our team is the closest we’ve ever been, which makes me really excited for next friday night. I’m proud to be a Timberwolf.”
All the team members, no matter what age or position, have a huge part in the games. Whether it’s protecting the quarterback, scoring touchdowns or kicking field goals, they all take part in the teams success.
All in all, the players are beyond ready for the games to start again.
“It felt good to get back out there,” Senior Aleksei Cohee said. “Just to get the chance to get on the field again to play was great.”
No matter how eager someone is, they’re not alone. They just have to look around and they’ll see the enthusiasm on the faces of the students, even teachers, surrounding them. So get hyped and come out to show support for the Timberwolves on Friday nights this fall. Bleed green, T-Wolves.
