The Southwest forensics team has kicked off their first year. At the recent BV West tournament, senior Mackenzie Nelson took 4th in senate, and freshmen Katie Super took 3rd place in house. Pavan Kota placed 4th in the same event at BV High. Aswathi Pradeep placed 4th in Lincoln-Douglas Debate.
At Piper High school, Jack Ayres placed 5th and Lauren Zahner placed 4th in impromptu speaking. Lauren Arney placed 3rd in oration.
Coach Jared Zuckerman is excited for the season and has high goals for his team.
“I would like to see six kids qualify to state, three to five for nationals, and win one team trophy,” Zuckerman said.
