Gallery: Boys varsity basketball vs. Shawnee Mission North
The boys varsity basketball team played Shawnee Mission North at home on Friday, Dec. 4th.
At the start of the game, the Timberwolves lost the tip off to the Indians and North scored the first point. With defensive skill, senior Jackson Lazzo stole the ball with 3 minutes left in the first quarter. Within the next few seconds, senior Matt Wilkinson gained possession of the ball and scored, making it 4-7. The ball went back and forth between, but eventually senior Gage McCoy scored with only 7 seconds left in the quarter. The score was 8-17 at the end of the first quarter.
By the end of the second quarter the score was 21-36 and Southwest was still down despite the steals and shots. After the final moments of the third quarter, North was still leading 57-30.
With 41 seconds left in the fourth quarter, junior Nathan Gish scored the final points of the game. Southwest fell to North with a score of 47-71.
The team’s next home game is this Friday, Dec. 11 against Blue Valley West at 7pm.
