Gallery: Varsity volleyball vs. Ottawa
The varsity volleyball team finished with a 3-1 victory against Ottawa on Thursday, Oct. 15.
A serve by senior Jenna Phelps put Southwest ahead in the first set. Southwest won and finished off the set with a score of 25-10.
Southwest took the lead by five points in the second set with a score of 10-5 from a spike by junior Abi Johnson, but the team eventually fell to Ottawa with a score of 22-25.
Southwest scored the first point of the third set. Toward the middle of this set, freshman Mckenzie Heffernon’s spike put Southwest ahead by 10 points with a score of 17-7. Southwest defeated Ottawa with a score of 25-17.
Senior Heather Huesman had a serving streak that gave five points to Southwest in the beginning of the fourth set. This final set ended with a score of 25-16 and Southwest was once again victorious.
The team plays at the Olathe South Tri on Tuesday, Oct. 20 next at Olathe South.
