Q and A with Hailey Jacobson
The freshman volleyball team’s season started on August 18, and will end on October 16. The team has not yet won a game, but Hailey Jacobson, a member of the team, says that they have worked hard to improve the way they play.
Q and A:
Overall, how do you think the season went?
Jacobson: “I’m not very happy with how we played overall, but there were some games when I felt really proud of my team. I feel like we have improved on a lot of things since the beginning of the season, and we will continue to improve until the season is over.”
Why are you not happy with how the team played?
Jacobson: “I feel like we just gave up some games. We lost to some teams that I think we should have been able to beat if we had tried harder and not given up right away.”
Why do you think your team didn’t
play well this season?
Jacobson: “I think we had a lot of different things to work on, but our biggest problem was how we didn’t play like a team.”
How did your team try to play together better?
Jacobson: “We all realized that we needed to work together if we wanted to start winning games, and we got better as we practiced and played games together.”
What were your main goals before the season started?
Jacobson: “I wanted the team to learn how to play together better. We started to work more as a team towards the end of the season, but I think we still could have done better. I also just wanted to improve the way I play.”
There are only a few games left in the season. What are your main goals before the season ends?
Jacobson: “My goal for the end of the season is for us to win a game. Winning a game would show that we have improved, and it would help us end the season on a good note.”
Are you planning on trying out next year?
Jacobson: “Yes. A lot of the girls who played on the team are probably going to tryout. I’m pretty sure some other girls who didn’t play for the team this year will try out, too. I am really excited for next season because I feel like we can learn from our mistakes and continue to improve the way we play.”
