Baseball is a game of failure and 9 times out of 10 disappointments occur that harm the team as a whole. Now that the team is back for another season the T-Wolves want to win big, but this will all take hard work and determination.
Those who follow the pack and know just how hard the team is working also know they are struggling for success and better outcomes. The varsity baseball season has been half and half with just as many wins as losses, but this 5-5 season is not where the team wants to be.
“Every team has highs and lows and right now we are in our low,” junior Mitch Thorman said. “We are not where we want to be right now, but we will pick our game up and be right where we want to be.”
As the team reaches closer and closer toward the EKL tournament, they have began working harder on areas that need improvement.
“We need to work on our defense and staying consistent, ” junior Bradley Bullock said. “Playing with energy, playing as a whole, and fighting for wins.”
Though the team is facing challenges now, junior Brady Childs explains just how the team has improved from one season to the next.
“We aren’t intimidated by tough situations this year,” Childs said. “We don’t shy away from a challenge and we stick to our game as seen after our 1-5 start.”
Coach Rick Sabath has been there every step of the way and knows true talent when he sees it and has faith in his Timberwolves.
“They all have power to go out and make it happen,” Sabath said. “If the team wants it, the team will get it. This all just takes time and effort.”
This year has been combined with wins, losses, strikeouts, and struggles. Through all the misses and failed attempts, the team is still reaching for state. The wolf pack’s strive to be better each day and to bring back a new state title for Southwest already makes this group winners.
