Boys golf coach Nate Winslow knows that the team will improve greatly in the next couple of years, but he is not expecting to give up on anything this year.
“We are going to try and prepare as much as we can both mentally and physically,” he said.
Junior Robby Hughey is going to be one of the leaders on the team.
He is confident in how well they play.
“We have to find a full varsity roster,” Hughey said. “Our biggest challenge is finding a 5th and 6th guy and if we do, then we can do well at the tournaments.”
The team doesn’t have much upperclassmen experience, but Winslow still thinks the younger athletes will be able to do well.
“There’s a lot of freshman and sophomores trying out and it looks like we’re going to get much better in the next couple of years,” he said.
There are 30 golfers trying out for 14 spots on the team.
