Beginning Oct. 1, I started to get tons of emails about birthday freebies from a variety of restaurants. Some of these freebies included discounts while others offered samples.
I love freebies, especially ones for my birthday, because they provide me with the opportunity to try things I wouldn’t normally buy myself. I am quite a picky eater, so these samples are a good way to go out of my comfort zone to try sometime without the risk of wasting my money on it. My favorite freebies are the ones that work the entirety of my birthday month. The only problem with those is that I had to sign up the month before to be able to get said freebie. I remember writing a reminder to myself to make an account for some places during September, but I never got around to it, so I missed out on the freebies at many places I didn’t already have an account for.
Even though I might have missed out on the opportunity to get a lot of freebies, I still got a few on my birthday earlier this week. Here are my rankings of the freebies I received:
5. Chipotle – The worst birthday freebie I received was from Chipotle. They gave me a free guacamole but not anything to go with it. Do they want me to just grab a spoon and eat the guacamole one spoonful at a time? I understand it is a marketing strategy to only give people guacamole so they will spend more money to get food to go with it, but I don’t like it. Why couldn’t they also give me a kid’s chip to go with it at least? I mean they wouldn’t be losing that much money from a kid’s chip because there are only like five chips per bag, but five chips is five chips. Another reason why I wasn’t a huge fan of this freebie was because I don’t like guacamole, so I ended up giving it to my dad.
4. Starbucks – From Starbucks, I had the opportunity to get a free drink of any size. This is a really good deal although this freebie was only available on the day of my actual birthday, which made it difficult for me to even be able to take advantage of it.
3. Chick-fil-A – Chick-fil-A gave me a variety of treats to choose from. These treats can range from a chocolate chunk cookie to a kid’s “Icedream” cone. I like how they gave me multiple options to choose from to help satisfy my sweet tooth.
2. Crumbl Cookies – At Crumbl Cookies, they gave me a free cookie. Considering their cookies are around $5 a piece, this is quite a good deal. Along with that, their cookies are also huge. The main reason why this isn’t my favorite freebie is because of the flavors. I feel like when it is my birthday week, all of the flavors are bad which makes it hard to choose the one I want for free.
1. Nothing Bundt Cakes – My personal favorite birthday freebie was from Nothing Bundt Cakes. They provided me with the opportunity to choose any flavor of Bundtlet, which is a really good personal size bundt cake rather than the bite size ones. All of their flavors are good and pair well with the cream cheese icing, so it made it hard to choose the one I wanted to try.
Even though I said I wasn’t a huge fan of some of the freebies places offer for birthdays, I still appreciate that they provide them in the first place. Something for free is better than nothing for free.
