Home movie review

Home is a story of a young girl Tip from Barbados facing an alien invasion.  After her mom was abducted, Tip starts off on her adventure to find her mom. In the Boov colony, Oh, a misfit in the colony, is fleeing from their enemy. Oh is enthusiastic and doesn’t hide his happy emotions, while the other clinical Boov avoid him. After certain events occur, Oh runs into Tip on the run from his colony, and the two set out together to achieve their different goals. According to variety.com, Home opened it’s first week with $54 million, a huge win for DreamWorks studios for them to keep up with the bigger names such as Pixar.
Home, in the film, is all about reuniting with the people you love,” said Rihanna in an interview found here.  The movie, while clearly set for a younger audience with no hidden adult jokes or innuendos, was still adorable with enjoyable bright characters that stand out. Tip was hilarious and believable as a younger more moody child. The animation and settings were beautiful, with many detailed scenes that are a joy to watch. The relationships of the characters are touching, and the character growth is fun to watch. The voice acting, with Rihanna and Jim Parsons, is stellar. Even if the jokes are younger, there is no crude humor and the voices and animation held the most joy for me in the film. Throughout the movie, original soundtrack with many features from Rhianna were played. Home‘s full soundtrack can be found here. The future technology brought a new element, and the ultimate morals of the story were wonderful and great influences to have on younger children that got a high rating of 3.8/5 on Rotten Tomatoes.
Overall, the movie was very cute and action-packed, with great animation voice acting and soundtrack. Even if you’re the only teen in the theater, Home is a fun ride about finding where you belong from start to finish.
