“American Sniper” Movie Review

The publicly released poster for the film.

I don’t  know whats better, having a film come out about a true American hero in action. Or the fact that it was directed by in my humble opinion, one of the best film directors that has ever been in Hollywood. I knew right away that I was going to see this movie and after I entered the theater, I quickly realised that I wasn’t the only one with that idea. The theater was packed and that’s always a good sign, but I never thought that it would turn out to be as good as it was going to be.

Last weekend I had the pleasure to go and see the new movie directed by the incredible Clint Eastwood. the movie starts off when Chris Kyle (played by

Bradley Cooper)  is about 24 years old and he doesn’t really know what he wants to do with his life. Then he witnesses the attacks on 9/11 and decides to join the U.S. Navy Seals, in order to protect his country from the people who attacked it. He goes to “Boot Camp” and eventully becomes a sniper because of his incredible shooting skills.

The movie is essentially a biography about Kyle’s time in the service, which includes the 4 tours in the Middle east.  It shows him becoming the most deadly sniper in United States history, and times when he saves his fellow comrades from almost certain death. Which I thought was really well done. The setts and actors were very believable, as well as the extras.

Also what this movie did, which that I really liked, was that they showed Kyle break down and become very distant with himself. After every tour there would a few scenes of his home life. And during those scenes you saw that his connection with his wife begin to disintegrate piece by piece.

All in all,  I thought that “American Sniper” was a great war epic. The acting was great, as well was the atmosphere of the movie as a whole. Clint Eastwood did a phenomenal job at making the audience feel as if they are there, with every whizzing bullet bullet, and every command shouted. Bradley Cooper was great in the movie,I wouldn’t be surprised if he wins best actor at the Oscars.  I would definitely recommend  buying  “American Sniper” when it comes on DVD.  It’s a easy 4.5/5 stars.
