A Future Worth Paying For
Teen jobs. A topic, and choice that every parent and teen has to make in their lifetime. Most kids dread the idea of working during the summer. They want to be outside with friends, stay up late, go to parties and that sort of stuff. Working that’s usually the last thing that they want to do, but is there any benefits to having a part-time job? In this opinion-based article, i will be presenting my arguments on why having a part-time job growing up is a good thing that every kid should have.
One of the first arguments that i have is that when you work you get money. That obvious, but nowadays kids are just taking money from Mom and Dad, and thats going to hurt them in the future because once they are on their own they can’t turn back to their parents for money all the time. If you have a job it teaches you money management in my opinion. My job has provided me with gas money, and spending money. but I always keep adding money to the bank every time I get a paycheck. It is awesome to see my accounts rise up with each month and pains me to take money out of it because I know that the money will come in handy during college.
Another argument is that it teaches responsibility and goal setting. For me, I had to save up quite a bit of money to upgrade my car, and I wouldn’t have been able to do that if it wasn’t for my job. See when you work you know that you are going to get money and if you want to buy something (like a phone) then you have to plan out how many days you will need to work in order to achieve that amount. This is a major advantage for later in life, because this teaches you how to set your goals and how to complete them. It also teaches responsibility because you need to learn to hold onto your money and every time you spend a little you need to make it all back to get on track.
Now the main point that people (who don’t think that teens should have jobs) will make against my point of view, is that teens should not have to work. That they should enjoy they last years in high school without the pressures of a job. And all i have to say about that is when they get into college and don’t have any past money experience, it will be a rocky road ahead for them.
In the end I think that is a great idea to have teens experience the world of work because it does not only teach responsibility and money management and is essential key to having a successful college and future.
