The T-wolves brought in yet another impressive victory vs. Gardner Edgerton Thursday, April 26 with the final score 10-0 at the bottom of the fifth inning. Fans cheered as the last base runner made it safely home adding one more successful win for the pack.
The pack had a great start and held the score at 0-0 until the end of the second inning. At the bottom of the second the T-wolves brought in three runs putting the pack in the lead.
As the varsity baseball team has become more successful in the last couple weeks, they really have something to celebrate about as junior shortstop Alec Alvarez puts it.
“We have been working great as a team and collectively hitting the ball,” Alvarez said. “We have been playing good team baseball.”
The team now has earned a 10-6 record for the season, but they must not get overconfident just yet. Although the team might have accomplishments to be happy about there are still some areas where work must be done Junior center fielder Scott Anderson explains.
“If we get down in a game sometimes as a team we assume that it’s over and there’s no hope for a win,” Anderson said. “Our confidence as a whole will come back and we have a lot to look forward to.”
Several players this year see their new winning streak as a grand start to earning a place or a title at state. Sophomore catcher Tj Martin believes the team has a huge chance at state this year and is excited for more wins to come.
“As a team we are having a great turn around and we are becoming the team we have wanted to be from the very beginning,” Martin said. “State is going to be nice way of showing off the talent we have.”
As the T-wolves get closer and closer to state and practices are becoming more crucial, Varsity Assistant Coach Garner says he is ready for what is ahead of them.
“State is really important to us this year because we feel we have what it takes,” Garner said. “Practices get more intense as we go along but we have high hopes this year.”
It’s hard not to notice that the wolf pack is definitely having a better season now than at the beginning and have several other games coming up to add on to their winning streak. The next game for the boys is Tuesday, May 1 vs. Blue Valley North at home.
