You know what stereotype I find myself getting tired of? The one about girls taking forever to get ready, or that we require a lot of primping any time we go out. Frankly, it’s annoying to hear people think that looks all we care about and I’d just like to make it clear that I’m not like that at all.
When I wake up for school in the morning, it’s not until 6:40 at the earliest, and I have to be gone and out of the house at 7:00. Do the math, and you’ll discover that only leaves me 20 minutes to get ready. In those 20 minutes I accomplish a shower, breakfast, brushing teeth and blow drying my hair (on a good day).
It’s not really any different when I’m at home or getting ready to go out anywhere. There still isn’t a long amount of time I take. Usually it’s sweats and a t-shirt or jeans. My hair is just thrown up on top of my head in a ponytail or a bun.
So, why am I saying all this? To make me sound gross or disgusting? No, that’s not my motive, I’d just like to point out that there are other issues I find myself more concerned with. If I have a zit on my face, spending a lot of time to cover it up just seems useless.
Make-up, to me, serves no purpose. It doesn’t really make me look very different. I guess longer eye lashes are kind of cool, but when people are talking to me, I’d hope they aren’t focused on that, but are focused on the words coming out of my mouth.
So, those of you who want to spend hours on your face in the morning, go ahead. I’m going to continue sleeping and being happy with how I look in the 20 minutes I allot to myself.
