Spring break is right around the corner.
Some folks may be flying across the country to kick it in some totally sick resort, but there are always those who just chillax at home.
Don’t go thinking it’s lame either. While some of those swanky vacation spots have an ocean view, there are so many things closer to home that make the ‘staycation’ just as sweet.
The ever-present benefit of friendship is definitely a major plus.
If shredding the slopes of Colorado with the family, I would get sick of being around my family for ten days, but if I was at home, I could retreat to the inner sanctum of my bedroom with some movies. Or hide at a friend’s house for a night or two.
In my previous experiences of spring break, I feel like it’s constantly go-go-go. And there isn’t a moment to just chill. If I spent my vacay at home, then chill time would be all the time.
Along with the chill theory, when I’m on a vacation, I never have time to do any homework during the trip; too busy go go go-ing.
But when I’m rockin’ the staycation, I have a ton of time. I can watch some movies, lay around all day long, talk to some friends or maybe even sleep.
And when there’s nothing left to do, do homework.
When my family does goes on vacation, my parents make me do any and all of my work before our flight or before we roll out. And it’s a mega pain.
There are always the folks who go on those lavish and posh cruises, and I have nothing against them, but Titanic has ruined cruises for me, enough said.
And if my family were to take some crazy road trip, I wouldn’t enjoy myself.
During the drive to our vacation spot in Gunnison, Col., (twelve hours and ten minutes) I was dead. Being in a car makes me hyper — the thought of going somewhere just gets that good old-fashioned adrenaline pumping.
And what happens after a spaz attack? The crash. Out of the nine hours spent on the road, I spent seven of them asleep.
And therefore, wherever we went, I was tired. Shredding the slopes was a difficult task when I was about to doze off every time we got on a chair lift.
Aside from personal reasoning, there is always the gloom of financing. Some people just can’t afford to go on an elaborate vacay. Gas prices for those who travel by car, are becoming more of a hassle. With prices rising again to the borderlines of $3 per gallon, farther destinations slip out of reach for people who can’t afford it. If you really wanted to save money, you could WALK to Cali, it will only take about 119 days. And if you did want to get there quicker, a quick flight from point to point would be the solution. Gas prices also affect the price of a plane ticket which could mess up perfect plans. Without a place to stay, there is no vacation. Prices to stay on site at Disney World and Disney Land, can cost up to three-hundred dollars a night. So again, finding a hotel or whatever suits your fancy, depends on finances. If only financing wasn’t such a hassle, then we could go wherever. But I think taking a staycation every once in a while is the way to go.
I could chill for ten whole days, stuff my face with whatever is laying around, and maybe get off my sorry butt and go hang with a friend. Because I rock the ‘stayyycation’, and I say if it goes smooth, a staycation can be more stellar than a posh spot vacay.
