District sets graduation date for July 30
According to an email from superintendent Todd White, the graduating class of 2020 will be having a modified, live-streamed commencement ceremony at the LAM-DAC on July 30 at 8:30 p.m. Additional celebrations will include a professionally-produced video that is meant to mimic the traditional class-day footage and a virtual awards recognition for the academic achievements of students.
However, this face-to-face graduation ceremony is not permitted to be held until Phase Three of the state’s coronavirus reopening plan, and it must operate under all mass gathering guidelines for that specific time.
Under the current plan, graduates will be able to walk across the stage and receive their diploma just as they would’ve had the school-year concluded as originally planned.
More information is to come from each individual building principal.
