Students selling T-shirts for former Aubry Bend math teacher
Former Aubry Bend Middle School math teacher, Tyler Reimer, was recently diagnosed with Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis, which affects the liver. He is in need of a new liver and is on the liver transplant list. In addition to that, he was also diagnosed with Essential Thrombocythemia, a type of cancer found in bone marrow.
Senior Bailey Spencer along with the help of Taylor Walton (‘18) and fellow senior Haley Spect are fundraising for their former teacher.
“We had him for math class in the sixth grade,” Spencer said. “I had him for study hall too and was also his manager for basketball in eighth grade. He was always a part of our lives in middle school. He had a really big impact on us and we just wanted to know what we could do to help him.”
To help cover his medical costs, there are shirts being sold with the phrase “Rally for Reimer” on the back. All the proceeds go directly to him and his family. Spencer said the fundraiser is going well after recently announcing it. In addition to the shirts, the girls have also created a Sign Up Genius.
“We already have 99 sales after two days of advertising for it,” Spencer said. “We’re also going to be making a Sign Up Genius to sign up to make freezer meals for his family.”
Spencer said students interested in helping should sign up on the Sign Up Genius or purchase a T-shirt using the form found here.
