High school is a time full of new experiences. It is typically a pretty difficult journey at this stage of our lives. However, for some people it is harder to adjust to than others. If you look around during the beginning part of the year, the freshmen are easy to spot out. Their faces are spilling over with confusion as they look around with wonder at all of their new surroundings.
By the time we are juniors and seniors, it is normal for us to have at least mostly fully adjusted to this time. We know how the school works, where everything is located and how to make our way to the different parts of the schools. However, there are also many students (especially this year) that have just recently transferred to our school from other schools in the district.
Kat Weiner is a senior this year. She came here from Northwest, but has already fallen in love with our school.
“I really like Southwest so far. The only difficulty is that I don’t know that many people in my graduating class yet, but overall it has been a good transition.” Weiner said.
Junior Jon Wakefield transferred from Northwest and before that spent a semester at JIS (Jakarta International School) late in his sophomore year. He has also came to love it here.
“I think it’s an amazing school. I’m happier here and I feel more accepted, at home, and less worried about everything. I absolutely love Southwest though! I love the people and I love the teachers. I’m grateful for all of the chances I’ve had and all of the experiences I have gained through being in three different high schools in three years.”
