Q: How long have you been teaching?
A: This is my second full year teaching, but I did teach for a semester before then, so technically like two and a half years.
Q: What brought you to Southwest?
A: I actually moved here from northwest Indiana so I didn’t really know a lot of the schools in the area, but my husband is going to dental school at UMKC and I heard really good things about the Blue Valley District and that’s what brought me here.
Q: What do you like about teaching at Southwest?
A: I really enjoy the community. I feel like I have gotten to know the ELA department pretty well and I really enjoy getting to work with them in our PLCs and to get to know the students.
Q: What are you looking forward to this year?
A: A few things I am looking forward to this year is just continuing to build community with my students, get to know them better, get to know the culture of the school and go to different events at school, like football games.
Q: What college did you attend?
A: I went to Indiana Wesleyan University, which is a college in Indiana.
Q: Why did you choose to teach English?
A: There are a few reasons why I chose English. I just love reading, and so that’s really something that really drew me in, and I also love helping students out and trying to foster a love for reading in my own students.
Q: What’s a fun fact about you?
A: A fun fact about me is that I did competitive gymnastics in elementary school and middle school and I made it up to level eight in competitive gymnastics before I quit.
