Q: How long have you been teaching?
A: This is my eighth year teaching.
Q: What brought you to Southwest?
A: We lived in Arkansas, northwest Arkansas, so we weren’t that far away from Kansas City. And we’ve, my family and I, traveled here and spent time up here on long weekends or spring break and we just really like the area, so we decided to move and Southwest, I knew I wanted to work in Blue Valley, was one of the first schools that got back to me and it felt like a really good fit.
Q: What do you like about teaching at Southwest?
A: I think the community is really cool. The pep rallies are insane and the school spirit is just off the chart so it’s really cool to see that, everyone buying in.
Q: What are you looking forward to this year?
A: This year, I’m looking forward to growing the coding program at this school and learning kind of a new skill and being able to teach that skill to different students.
Q: What college did you attend?
A: I went to the University of Arkansas.
Q: Why did you choose to teach business?
A: I think business is something great because it can apply to all aspects of life and is something that you can use immediately in this class. So for example, this week we’re going over budgeting and students can take that lesson and immediately implement it in their life. So it’s really practical.
Q: What’s a fun fact about you?
A: I got to yell “shark” on a beach in a completely serious situation.
