Q: How long have you been teaching?
A: This is my 19th year.
Q: What brought you to Southwest?
A: I’m here in the area because most of my family lives in this area, so I was missing out on quite a bit and so I’m really happy to be here.
Q: What do you like about teaching at Southwest?
A: I like the culture, the community and the school spirit and everyone’s really kind.
Q: What are you looking forward to this year?
A: I’m still working on my graduate degree for special ed, so just getting more classes finished is what I am looking most forward to.
Q: What college did you attend?
A: Right now, I’m attending Fort Hays and for undergrad, I went to Newman University.
Q: Why did you choose to be a special education teacher?
A: I taught fifth grade for 16 years and I just kind of got a little bit burnt out. Then, I had some friends that would say, “hey, you should come to the high school.” Then, there were some special ed positions open at my old school, so I started on that path. I couldn’t imagine going back. I really like high school-aged kids and actually hope to retire here in this position.
Q: What’s a fun fact about you?
A: I am a crazy Harry Potter fan.
