Q: How long have you been teaching?
A: This is my ninth year teaching.
Q: What brought you to Southwest?
A: I have family in the area so I wanted to move closer to my sister and my nephew.
Q: What do you like about teaching at Southwest?
A: I really enjoy the atmosphere and working with the students. It’s a great group of kids that I have this year and I’m really excited to continue.
Q: What are you looking forward to this year?
A: This year, I’m looking forward to learning about all of the activities and things that are available at Southwest because they are different from school to school.
Q: What college did you attend?
A: I went to Wichita State University for my undergrad and I went to Baker University for my master’s.
Q: Why did you choose to teach math?
A: I’ve always enjoyed math, which is something not a lot of people say, so I’ve really enjoyed working with it. Back in high school, we had a study group and I always enjoyed helping the kids around me as well, so I knew that was something I wanted to do forever.
Q: What’s a fun fact about you?
A: I love reading and I love keeping track of how much I read. I organize it by how much I read each day, word count and all of the fun details, so I take a very mathematical approach to reading.
