A lot of sports have been an integral part of the school since its opening. However, the boys volleyball club just started last year, and junior Ben LaCroix is one of the players.
“Last year, the program was starting and I saw the flyers. Some of my friends wanted to join so I thought I would join with them,” LaCroix said.
LaCroix is also involved in lacrosse, but said the communities of the sports are unique.
“I feel like volleyball is different because there’s only six players,” LaCroix said. “You get to know your five other teammates a lot better than 10 people on [the field].”
While the volleyball team is smaller than lacrosse, LaCroix said he loves the camaraderie of the team.
“I just enjoy the community; it’s a great group of guys out there,” LaCroix said. “We all want to be there and we’re all having fun and it all makes it so much better.”
LaCroix said his favorite aspect of the sport is playing alongside his teammates.
“My favorite part is that it is so unique and it is a team sport that I would never have expected myself to play, but I’m [playing] and I love it,” LaCroix said.
LaCroix said his biggest motivation is all of his teammates.
“It’s the fact that [my teammates] want to get better and they want me to get better in the process,” LaCroix said.
