Students share the meaning behind what they carry in their bags
A backpack can be more to a student than just a bag full of books and pens. For some, it’s a vessel for a precious object, an object that carries sentimental value. It might be a necklace, or a even a sketch of a loved one. Seemingly trivial items hidden away in a pouch, vacant of typical school supplies, can provide a window to the part of a given person’s personality that is absent while walking in the halls.
Junior Ellie Chramosta fiddles with a sand dollar necklace and colorful bracelets. The jewelry is a constant reminder of blissful periods in Chramosta’s life.
“I got [this necklace] in the Bahamas and it was a really good time for my family,” Chramosta said. “These couple of bracelets I got over the summer from some little girls I befriended at a cancer survivor camp. [The camp] is special to me because I get to meet people that have gone through the same things as me.”
