Buzz Beach Ball
From Arcade Fire to Florence + The Machine, the alternative genre covers a wide range of music, artists and listeners. Kansas City’s alternative station, 96.5 The Buzz, will be putting on their annual summer concert, Buzz Beach Ball, on Saturday June 2, at Livestrong Sporting Park. This year’s concert features Sublime with Rome, Foster the People, The Shins, Kimbra and others.
Senior Taylor Clark has attended Buzz Beach Ball in the past, and had some great times.
“I went three years ago when Blink 182 came with Weezer and Taking Back Sunday,” Clark said. “It was super rad. I got a guitar pick from Tom DeLonge that he threw out to the crowd, and got to meet Mark Hoppus before the show.”
Clark also plans to attend this year, and is looking forward to another great concert.
“It should be pretty awesome this year,” he said. “It’s a bit pricier now that it’s at Livestrong but the lineup more than makes up for it.”
With tickets starting at $30, it isn’t the cheapest of concerts. Yet for fans of indie/alternative music, it plans to be more than worth the money.

Country Stampede
This summer, come June 21, gather up those cowboy boots and Wrangler jeans for the annual Country Stampede at Tuttle Creek in Manhattan, Kan. Offering four straight days of country music and festivities, Country Stampede draws in people from all over the Midwest.
Senior Maren Ozier is headed to Manhattan for all of the fun.
“I’ve never been before but I am so excited,” Ozier said.
Some of the headlining artists this year are Zac Brown Band, Toby Keith, The Band Perry, and Luke Bryan. The country radio station, 94.5, has been advertising this concert for months. Many people, especially those traveling from neighboring states, plan to camp each night, and those facilities will be provided as well.
“All the country radio stations are advertising it so I looked up who was going and I decided I had to go,” Ozier said. “If you like country music and good times, then I don’t know how you couldn’t go.”
